I was living in Delhi
then and had all my prechecks there. We went to Hyderabad for the Delivery.
It was the October of 2004!! I was in waiting. This was the hardest month of all in my Pregnancy of 9 months+. Dhairya was developing well. I was on iron supplements. I was enjoying my few days in Hyderabad with my little nephew Siddharth, then just about a year and a half and the lovely food that Bhavini Bhabhi made and we used to go out for lunch/ dinner now and then. We saw many movies, did some shopping, also some painting classes...it was a good break from my work in Delhi.
So it was the end of my 9th month, almost the date that my doc had given me – 17th October and no signs of Dhairya…the Doctor was not willing to wait too long, as Dhairya was a huge baby. She asked me to admit on the evening of the 18th and induced on the noon of the 19th, however Dhairya was a C Section baby born after an exhausted labor. Hale and healthy two little hands, two little feet and one beautiful face. There was no way I could sleep the whole night, induced however with multiple sleep inducers.
I put him by my side and inserted my pointer finger in his little palm wrapping around my finger, kept looking at him every few minutes, just worried, if I may hurt him by sleeping so close and having a thousand thoughts in my mind. I believe that is the night that motherhood came to me as a blessing from nature!! That was a night, I felt so satisfied with my beautiful bundle of joy, I could not even remember any pain that I went through in the few hours preceding these moments.
